Quiznos

I love Quiznos. Especially their Chicken sandwiches. Their food is much better then Subways. I am a very busy person and usually grab things on the go. So for now I will just get my lunch at Q.

Quiznos Menue

My meal of choice is a large Honey Bourbon Chicken

Home Gym - EFX machine

Today is Day 1 and the first workout. The preparation that was previously mentioned was actually the day before. I will be starting my 30 day plan on a Monday. Will work out 6 days a week and then rest on Sunday. I plan on doing 30 minutes of cardio before work as I turned one of my spare bedrooms into a basic home gym. On this EFX machine I usually get my heart rate up to about 170 and a peek of about 180 or so. This one is very nice as it gets the heart rate going and is very easy on the knees.

Self portrait of my workout

Towards the end of my workout I tried to snap a photo while I was working out. As you ca see it did not come out that clear. But the pics looks pretty cool anyway. Had a good workout and felt pretty good afterwards.

Day 1 - Hornbachers grocery store - time to get amo

Now that we got our before photos out of the way and know we need to get down to about 150, we have to make a pretty big change to our food intake. So it is off to the local grocery store, Hornbackers. Funky name huh??

A little background on my 30 day kick start diet and excersice plan. First off I am 36 years old so my metabolism is starting to slow down. We need to kick start it back up. In high school I was a wrestler and wrestled at 128 lbs. In college I got into body building. At my peak before I got married ;-) I was about 160 lbs with only 7% body fat. It took me many many hours in the gym and I had to eat like an animal to get to that weight. Of course this is no longer the case.

The goal for this program is to loose all fat, absolutely zero muscle and very little water. I know how my body reacts to certain foods from my background in Body Building. To achieve our goal I will be using a very simple body building diet that is very much scaled back along with supplements. For the next 30 days all the food I take in will not be for enjoyment or because it tastes good. It will strictly be for function only. By the way, with my job I basically set my own hours. I am up very late and therefore I sleep late as well. So I don’t eat breakfast. Therefor with this schedule my diet will consist of:

- Lunch: Chicken - Either from Quiznos or Qdoba Mexican restaurant. Will explain more later on….
- Dinner: - A BIG bowl of cottage cheese with Blueberry yogurt and a Myoplex Carb sense nutrition shake
- Bedtime Snack: Peanut butter sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread with a Myoplex carb sense nutrition shake
- Assorted no calorie drinks through out the day
- Plenty of water
- A Myoplex shake here and there through out the day
- Supplements. I can go into greater detail later on.

Ok, Back to the grocery store. Now that I know I need to change my diet, it is time for a little shopping.
Skippy Peanut Butter

The first Isle I come across is the Peanut Butter isle. If I get hungry at night, I can have one peanut butter sandwich with a myoplex carb sense nutrition shake. That fills me up pretty good. However Skippy is not the best as it has allot of sugar. I Should be using natural however not many natural peanut butters taste that good. I may throw out my skippy at home. Not sure yet. I may also do half and half. Will have to see how things progress with the weight loss.

Natural Peanut Butter

This Smart Balance natural peanut butter looks pretty good. I will try it out.

Fat Free Cottage Cheese

Need to pick up some cottage cheese as that will be my evening staple. I like the Land O Lakes Fat Free.

Light and fit Blueberry Yogurt

I can not eat the cottage cheese alone. So as mentioned in the Book “Eating for Life” a good choice to mix with your cottage cheese is blueberry yogurt. It really adds a nice flavor to the cottage cheese.
Light and fit Blueberry Yogurt - Nutrition info

If you can see in the nutrition panel. This one has one of the lowest amount of carbs and also has 5 grams of protein. It is really hard to find good tasting yogurt with no sugar and little carbs.

Bread Isle

A little stroll through the bred isle to pick up some 100% whole wheat bread for our nicght time snack - A single Peanut Butter sandwich.. I really like the Brownberry breads. However they do add sugar to them. I am still searching for something better.
Brownberry Whole Grain 100% whole wheat bread

Of course we have to get 100% whole wheat. Whole wheat is a complex carb which is what we want. Must stay away from simple carbs such as sugar, corn, starchy foods etc…

A Quick look at the nutrition panel. You can see that it has high fructose corn syrup which is the worst type of sugar you can get. It does however have 3 grams of fiber which is good. I still will have to search for something with less sugar later on.

Propel Fitness water

Lastly we need to pick up some water as we will need to be drinking ALLOT of water. I really like the taste of Propel

However I realized after I bought some that it has sugar. I missed that before. We do not want any sugar for at least 30 days. I could go into great detail of why sugar is bad but will save that for another post.

Well that is all I need for this shopping trip.
