Day 1 - Time to do a little grocery shopping

Now that we got our before photos out of the way and know we need to get down to about 150, we have to make a pretty big change to our food intake. So it is off to the local grocery store, Hornbackers. Funky name huh??
A little background on my 30 day kick start diet and excersice plan. First off I am 36 years old so my metabolism is starting to slow down. We need to kick start it back up. In high school I was a wrestler and wrestled at 128 lbs. In college I got into body building. At my peak before I got married
I was about 160 lbs with only 7% body fat. It took me many many hours in the gym and I had to eat like an animal to get to that weight. Of course this is no longer the case.
The goal for this program is to loose all fat, absolutely zero muscle and very little water. I know how my body reacts to certain foods from my background in Body Building. To achieve our goal I will be using a very simple body building diet that is very much scaled back along with supplements. For the next 30 days all the food I take in will not be for enjoyment or because it tastes good. It will strictly be for function only. By the way, with my job I basically set my own hours. I am up very late and therefore I sleep late as well. So I don’t eat breakfast. Therefor with this schedule my diet will consist of:
- Lunch: Chicken - Either from Quiznos or Qdoba Mexican restaurant. Will explain more later on….
- Dinner: - A BIG bowl of cottage cheese with Blueberry yogurt and a Myoplex Carb sense nutrition shake
- Bedtime Snack: Peanut butter sandwich on 100% whole wheat bread with a Myoplex carb sense nutrition shake
- Assorted no calorie drinks through out the day
- Plenty of water
- A Myoplex shake here and there through out the day
- Supplements. I can go into greater detail later on.
Ok, Back to the grocery store. Now that I know I need to change my diet, it is time for a little shopping.

The first Isle I come across is the Peanut Butter isle. If I get hungry at night, I can have one peanut butter sandwich with a myoplex carb sense nutrition shake. That fills me up pretty good. However Skippy is not the best as it has allot of sugar. I Should be using natural however not many natural peanut butters taste that good. I may throw out my skippy at home. Not sure yet. I may also do half and half. Will have to see how things progress with the weight loss.

This Smart Balance natural peanut butter looks pretty good. I will try it out.

Need to pick up some cottage cheese as that will be my evening staple. I like the Land O Lakes Fat Free.

I can not eat the cottage cheese alone. So as mentioned in the Book “Eating for Life” a good choice to mix with your cottage cheese is blueberry yogurt. It really adds a nice flavor to the cottage cheese.

If you can see in the nutrition panel. This one has one of the lowest amount of carbs and also has 5 grams of protein. It is really hard to find good tasting yogurt with no sugar and little carbs.

A little stroll through the bred isle to pick up some 100% whole wheat bread for our nicght time snack - A single Peanut Butter sandwich.. I really like the Brownberry breads. However they do add sugar to them. I am still searching for something better.

Of course we have to get 100% whole wheat. Whole wheat is a complex carb which is what we want. Must stay away from simple carbs such as sugar, corn, starchy foods etc…

A Quick look at the nutrition panel. You can see that it has high fructose corn syrup which is the worst type of sugar you can get. It does however have 3 grams of fiber which is good. I still will have to search for something with less sugar later on.

Lastly we need to pick up some water as we will need to be drinking ALLOT of water. I really like the taste of Propel

However I realized after I bought some that it has sugar. I missed that before. We do not want any sugar for at least 30 days. I could go into great detail of why sugar is bad but will save that for another post.
Well that is all I need for this shopping trip.
